I hear the red tail crying to its mate
Across the valley
A rooster crowing
Car tires whoosh an invisible river
Hiding behind the trees
The sun bores through the gray
Glowing glory
Behind black mountains
Gaining color inching it’s
Way into the brightening sky
A dove coos four times
Ancient song
Unchanged over the eons
All is right in that moment
Forgoåtten the trivial trials
Of man attempting to
Put it all under control
A kabuki kind of reality
Crumbling calamitously in the background
I take pictures with my phone
And marvel that this thing
A black plastic box with
Curly cord to a microphone and speaker
Is now a camera computer calculator
And connector of myriad realms
Some still to be discovered
A crow and then another
Playing with the air make their way
To somewhere far from this
