Looking into the face of god
That was invisible to us all
Until we saw the dark matter
Everywhere it was
Holding all things together with
The weight of his love
Measured in gravity
As a force that gives us up and down
In an otherwise nondimensional world
So we can lift our eyes heavenward to pray
Even though we know there really is no up
Or down where the bowels of hell
Are purported to burn
We see infinite blackness
Between orbs of light stretched
Into time and past time and its tenses
Pluperfect meets future conjunctive
Before they have been written
And the soft light that falls about us late at night
Is so old we don’t know if the
Pin prick of the blinking faint star
Off and on like an antique neon sign
Is really even there
Nor do we know if we are really here
Though we pinch ourselves with
Self destruction just to prove
That we are alive and filled with
Dark matter between the cells and atoms
And neurons that live die love and kill
Everyday from now until
The dark matter turns to light
